Feeling like you’re enough, every once in a while

There are days when I feel exactly where I’m meant to be, without having to prove anything to anyone and without feeling the need to chase something more. Not because everything is perfect, but because for a moment I stop questioning how much I’m doing, how fast I’m moving, or how much further I still have to go.

And then there are all the other days.

The ones where comparison arrives uninvited, expectations grow louder, and thoughts start taking up too much space. The ones where it always feels like something is missing, even when you couldn’t really say what.

For a long time, I thought that was normal, almost inevitable. And maybe it is, at least partly. But at some point, I started wondering if that really had to be the only way to live through all of this.

The idea of “enough”

The word “enough” sounds simple, but in reality, it’s a measure that constantly changes. Often, it’s not even something we truly decide for ourselves, but something shaped by other people, situations, and everything we see around us.

Today, this is enough. Achieving this is enough. Feeling this way is enough. Tomorrow, suddenly, it isn’t anymore.

And so we end up chasing a finish line that keeps moving slightly further away, without ever stopping to ask ourselves if what we’ve already done might actually be enough for us.

And somewhere in the middle of all that remains this subtle feeling of never being completely okay, even when maybe we are far more okay than we think.

When you stop chasing

And yet, there are moments when something quiets down.

It doesn’t happen often, and it never happens when you force it, but when it does, you can feel it. It’s like turning down the volume of your thoughts and realizing that, for a moment, there’s nothing left to prove.

You’re not late. You’re not behind. You’re not less than anyone else. You’re simply there.

And in that moment, everything changes, even if nothing outside of you actually has. You breathe differently. You feel lighter, more present, as if you no longer need to run toward something just to deserve peace.

Small reminders (for when you need them)

I don’t have a formula for always feeling like I’m enough, and maybe there isn’t one.

But I’ve started leaving myself small reminders, especially on the days when comparison feels louder. Reminding myself that not everything has to be proven, that not every moment needs to be productive to matter, that I don’t always have to become “more” in order to feel enough.

And that sometimes stopping to recognize what’s already there — even if it’s imperfect — is far harder, but also far more important, than constantly chasing something else.

Feeling like you’re enough, even just for a moment

Maybe the goal isn’t to feel like you’re enough forever.

Maybe it’s something that happens every now and then, in brief moments when you stop looking at yourself through judgment and simply allow yourself to exist. One day yes, the next maybe not. One moment yes, the one after perhaps less so.

But those moments matter, because they remind you that you don’t need to become someone different or further ahead to feel okay. That you can pause, even just for a second, and recognize yourself exactly as you are.

And maybe that’s where everything starts again.

That’s right! I’m learning to love myself. I haven’t succeeded yet, but I feel I am on the right path to understand the right key to look me in the mirror and be happy with what I see, have a big smile, and start my day in the best possible way.
